News & Notes

George M. Blackburn, General Manager/Architect and Building Enclosure Consultant, has been in the industry for 40 years. He’s our third featured member here on MPIN, so take some time to get to know him!

MPIN: What’s the most significant industry development you’ve seen in recent years?
GB: The recognition of the importance of: (1) air barriers and the development of new air barrier products; (2) the rain screen principal and the drainage plane; and (3) the superior performance of exterior insulation for exterior walls.

MPIN: What’s something you can’t do without in your office or on the job site?
GB: My computer.
(MPIN: By the way, we’re three for three on this one!)

MPIN: What industry tip would you like to pass on to your fellow MPIN members?
GB: Employ quality assurance and quality control practices of requiring on-site inspections and testing by a qualified third-party.

Thanks, George!
Look for more member bios in the coming weeks, and remember to send me an email if you'd like to be featured.
